Missions Month 2012

Missions Month 2012 provides an opportunity for people to hear about the mission fields in Australia and Overseas.

Missions Month 2012 is in August and we will have the following speakers share with us over that month.

August 5, 2012 - Speaker: Geoff Tacon

Missions Month 2012

I came to faith in my university years, and since then have been involved in university ministry. I worked with undergraduate and postgraduate students while studying at the uniiversity of Quieensland, and for the past three years I've been a pastor and evangelist with AFES on Griffith University's Gold Coast campus.

I'm thrilled to have been given the grace of being a preacher of the gospel! Having grown up on the south side of Brisbane, I'm also delighted to now be able to work on Griffith University's Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses. I am married to Jayne, and we have four children, Aimee, Emma, Heidi and Jacob. Although I haven't seen Jesus Christ yet, I love him, and ma longing for his return! Come, Lord Jesus!

Geoff Tacon will be sharing the local mission work of Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students on the university campus.

August 12, 2012 - Gary & Ruth Weston (Japan)

Missions Month 2012

We support, both financially and in prayer, the work of Gary and Ruth Weston in Hatazawa in Japan. They are serving God faithfully amongst the Japanese people, working with OMF.

It will be great to have Gary and Ruth Weston with us during our missions month 2012. We pray for a safe journey back to Australia as they take some time out as well as sharing with their supporters.

Gary said, "We still don’t have final dates but we hope to be back in Oz soon after Easter and up to November. It’s been great to hear from so many of you inviting us to fellowship and share with you. We are really looking forward to it. We want to see everybody!"

August 19, 2012 - Rev. Ian Wright

Missions Month 2012

The mission of the Barnabas Fund is to support Christians where they are in a minority and suffer discrimination, oppression and persecution as a consequence of their faith. Our goal is to strengthen Christian individuals, churches and their communities by providing material and spiritual support in response to needs identified by local Christian leaders.

We do this by making their needs known to Christians around the world, by encouraging prayer and financial giving in support of these brothers and sisters in Christ, working with existing local Christian organisations, and by speaking on their behalf. The Fund channels this aid from donors to the needy recipients with minimum overheads. All gifts are monitored to ensure they are used in line with the stated need.

In accordance with Biblical teaching, we believe that Christians should treat all people of all faiths with love and compassion, even those who persecute them.

August 26, 2012 - Peter Salisbury (Teen Missions)

Missions Month 2012

Teen Missions Australia started in 1987 with the purpose of providing a way for young people from 13-25 years of age to be introduced to mission work around the world.

Our goal is to challenge, train and disciple young people and to channel the enthusiasm and energies of youth into mission work projects and evangelism.

Since its beginning, thousands of young people and adults from around the world have experienced missions first-hand through teams being involved in building and evangelistic projects with established mission organisations during our summer program. Many are involved in missions today, and many others are preparing for full-time Christian work in the future. although we may be involved in various types of projects, our main goal is to build young people into strong, committed Christians.
